yellow bporn by Sally Anne - Top Yellow Gallery

by Yancey Grantham

While looking through some yellow pictures, I left one on the screen while I went into the other room. I came back and some bees had flown in from outside and were attacking the screen. The image on the screen was “yellow bporn” by Sally Anne.

I guess it was that yellow that attracted them. However the photographer, Sally said “this color, this particular shade of yellow makes me pay attention a little more. It’s a little exciting, but disturbing also. A little too bright….”

It might be bright but for yellow lovers it’s wonderful. For a hand held macro shot the focus is amazing.

Taking macro shots is easier with the right camera. Sally used a Sony DSC-H9 set at 1/160, f/4 and a focal length of 5.2mm. When asked how she approaches macro photos Sally had some advice. “I use a point and shoot (camera) with settings…there is a specific setting for macro. So shooting macro is not much of a challenge. I guess the challenge is to catch that bug before it moves,,catch the light coming through the foliage before it changes. I mean I have to work the buttons a little, move the camera closer or further away…..till I get the right dof (depth of field) that I want, the clarity of the subject. I try to get closer and closer every time.” Trying to get closer every time helped achieve this great yellow macro photo.

When asked about the color yellow Sally replied “I love yellow, but prefer the muted butter yellows or the orangey yellows. OH and yellow-green too…..this particular yellow …….well I don’t like to spend too much time looking at it.” That is OK Sally because we like looking at it, at least the bees and I do. bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz
