Big Yellow Wheel by Jeremy Brooks is a simple close up of an old yellow wheel. But is it that simple? Looking closer you can see wear and tear that this tire has undergone. The areas where the yellow has been scraped off is the character of this photograph.

yellow bporn by Sally Anne – Top Yellow Gallery

    by Yancey Grantham

While looking through some yellow pictures, I left one on the screen while I went into the other room. I came back and some bees had flown in from outside and were attacking the screen. The image on the screen was “yellow bporn” by Sally Anne.

I guess it was that yellow that attracted them. However the photographer, Sally said “this color, this particular shade of yellow makes me pay attention a little more. It’s a little exciting, but disturbing also. A little too bright….”

It might be bright but for yellow lovers it’s wonderful. For a hand held macro shot the focus is amazing.

Taking macro shots is easier with the right camera. Sally used a Sony DSC-H9 set at 1/160, f/4 and a focal length of 5.2mm. When asked how she approaches macro photos Sally had some advice. “I use a point and shoot (camera) with settings…there is a specific setting for macro. So shooting macro is not much of a challenge. I guess the challenge is to catch that bug before it moves,,catch the light coming through the foliage before it changes. I mean I have to work the buttons a little, move the camera closer or further away…..till I get the right dof (depth of field) that I want, the clarity of the subject. I try to get closer and closer every time.” Trying to get closer every time helped achieve this great yellow macro photo.

When asked about the color yellow Sally replied “I love yellow, but prefer the muted butter yellows or the orangey yellows. OH and yellow-green too…..this particular yellow …….well I don’t like to spend too much time looking at it.” That is OK Sally because we like looking at it, at least the bees and I do. bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz

Yellow by Coldplay – Music Video and Lyrics – Yellow Music

    by Yancey Grantham

Yellow is a song by the musical group Coldplay. The song Yellow is from the album Yellow which was a single which helped Coldplay reach worldwide fame.1

On August 3, 2008, Phoenix FM’s audience chose their favorite Coldplay songs and Yellow was chosen as number three.2

    Yellow by Coldplay

    Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
    And everything you do,
    Yeah, they were all yellow.
    I came along,
I wrote a song for you,
And all the things you do,
    And it was called yellow.
So then I took my turn,
Oh what a thing to have done,
    And it was all yellow.
    Your skin
Oh yeah, your skin and bones,
    Turn into something beautiful,
You know, you know I love you so,
You know I love you so.
    I swam across,
    I jumped across for you,
Oh what a thing to do.
    Cos you were all yellow,
    I drew a line,
I drew a line for you,
Oh what a thing to do,
    And it was all yellow.
    Your skin,
Oh yeah your skin and bones,
    Turn into something beautiful,
    And you know for you,
Id bleed myself dry for you,
    Id bleed myself dry.
Its true, look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
    Look how they shine for,
Look how they shine for you,
Look how they shine for you,
    Look how they shine.
    Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And all the things that you do.3

Welcome to the Top Yellow Blog!

    by Yancey Grantham

Welcome to the Top Yellow Blog where we will be talking about and looking at all things yellow.

We will awake to the yellow sun. There will be a breakfast of bananas, yellow apples and nectarines. After breakfast we’ll grab a yellow taxi and head to the botanical garden where we will see Sunflowers, Black Eyed Susans, and Poppies. Hey look, they are offering rides in a Yellow Submarine! That was fun, what do you want to do now? I know what to do, lets check YellowPages.com.

    Yellow Animals

Grab your camera and lets go on a bird hunt for the Common Yellowthroat, the Yellowhammer and maybe even the Yellow-rumped Warbler. Yellow is a common color in birds.

Other animals we’ll seek out include the Yellow Mongoose, Yellow Eel, and the Yellow Tiger.

There are lots of pictures of yellow fish. There is also a Yellow Fish design studio, musical group, song, a trading company and a recipe for Yellow Fish Curry.

    Universal Yellow

It’s obvious that without our sun we would not be the way we are. We live under a Yellow sun. There are a lot of other stars out there that are yellow like our sun. Scientists call warm stars with temperatures around 10,000ยบ F “Yellow Stars.” It is our yellow sun star that gives us life.

We’ll visit other people who live in a yellow universe, they are on TV and called “The Simpsons.”

    Yellow Movies

Yellow has been a main color of movies since we all began to “follow the yellow brick road.” We’ll watch the Yellow movies including Yellow Emanuelle and Yellow Handkerchief. We’ll follow Yellowbeard and see if he ever makes it to Yellowstone.

    Yellow Life

Other yellow items that will be examined include:

    Yellow Card
    Yellow Flag
    Yellow Jersey
    Yellow School Bus
    Yellow Light
    Yellow Line
    Yellow Dog
    Mellow Yellow
    Yellowcake
    Yellow Race
    Yellow Journalism
    Yellow Emperor
    Yellow Car
    Yellowjackets

Yellow is our theme as we examine yellow memes.
